While in Sugarloaf, we drove into Marathon a couple of times to visit beaches and ride bikes.

Bahia Honda Bridge is just south of Marathon.

It was built as a railway bridge in the early 1900s, then converted to a road in the 50s.

But hurricanes have since destroyed the road.

We went to Bahia Honda State Park.

Unfortunately, the main beach was filled with stinky seagrass.

And the Atlantic Beach was just a tiny strip of sand and seagrass.

We walked along the base of the bridge.

Pretty leaves.

We walked through this tree tunnel.

And onto a small portion of the bridge open to pedestrians.

In Marathon, we found this sweet little waterside park.

And another park with more sand.

Another day, we drove into Marathon with our bikes.

We rode on the old 7-mile bridge.

This bridge was replaced in the 70s.

But most of it is still there.

You can ride or walk out to Pigeon Key.

This island is where the workers lived while they were building the bridge.

It makes for a fun bike ride.

The water is so clear.

You can imagine why it took so many years to build.

We stopped at the Turtle Hospital in Marathon.

They have an actual turtle ambulance.

We went into the lobby exhibit.

What huge turtles!

You can take a tour for $20-something, but we didn't.

The lobby exhibit was like a museum itself.

Back over 7-mile bridge on the way out of the keys.

Lots of wind surfers on this gorgeous Sunday.

We will miss the Keys!!

Settling in for the ride, Gypsy gives Bailey a little bath.

And just a little bite.
