One Year on the Road

Me with my cousin, Debbie, whom I hadn&#039;t seen for 45 years!

She and her husband, Ron, living in Dripping Springs with their two goldens.

Keebler is seven months. The older one is nine.

Bailey loved zooming around their big yard with the other dogs.

I loved the saddle seats in the kitchen.

And the 1941 Cadillac in their garage.

It&#039;s been beautifully restored.

I do love old cars.

On our way south to Gruene, we had to detour at Wimberly where the bridge was out.

Gruene is a very cute little town.

Years ago, at a family reunion, we&#039;d all tubed down the Guadalupe River.

People were still tubing, but the riving was raging.

Gruene Hall was made famous by the movie &quot;Michael&quot; with John Travolta.

There was a dance hall scene in the movie, and the dance hall is still a popular place.

Gruene Mansion Inn was all shut down.

It had really cute little buildings/rooms.

No one was around, but it was all well maintained.

They had cabins overlooking the river.

On the way to the campground, Kate rescued a turtle from the road.

It was very beautiful (and heavy!).

The campground we stayed at was a little rundown but fine for us.

We stayed up on are above the river.

There were braver campers who stayed right on the Comal River (across from the stadium).

We were right next to train tracks.

The Comal River was high but not fast, so Bailey could swim.

One day we drove into San Antonio and walked along the River Walk.

Bailey wasn&#039;t sure what to make of the plaza fountain.

It was so hot, we encouraged her to get wet.

She like drinking from the wild fountain.

This little boy showed Bailey how it&#039;s done.

The saloon didn&#039;t perservere, but the old cathedral did.

Back to the River Walk...

We lunched at Charlie Wants a Burger, where Bailey was welcomed.

Later, we went back to Gruene without Bailey to check out the antique store.

We&#039;d spent hours in this store last time we were here (in 2002).

It&#039;s easy to get lost in the large, fun place.

And salt shakers.
