We boondocked in a remote primitive site in the Green Mountain National Forest in Vermont.

A beautiful drive into the Green Mountain National Forest.

Lots of fall color.

We kept our eyes peeled.

Sweet Vermont country store.

We stopped at the Robert Frost wayside for lunch.

A little midday break.

We passed by this very cool campus and inn.

It's the Breadloaf School of English.

It's part of the Middlebury College.

Students come here to study creative writing and theater arts.

Such a beautiful setting.

The drive was just gorgeous.

Though most shots had to be through the windshield, we could pull over for this riverbed.

Fall is here.

The most fall color we've seen so far.

We drove down this national park road by Texas Falls.

We found this official free boondocking site.

It was a little dead-end with a fire pit.

Marble rocks in the fire pit.

It was so remote and quiet.

Except for the sound of the river.

But we were just down the road from Texas Falls.

It's a very Oregon-like park.

A nice place to hike.

The bridge gives a good view of the falls.

We drove a few miles back to the Robert Frost hiking trail.

This land is Frost's old tromping grounds.

It's a well-kept path.

With a dozen or so poems along the way.

Kate reads a poem.

Driving back to Bessie, we pulled over to explore this cemetery.

This 18-year-old was killed in the Civil War.

Most dated back to the 1800s.

Just "Papa."

One boy killed by "an overturning load of lumber." The other killed by "the explosion of a cannon."

Back in Bessie, Gypsy was happy to see us all.

The next morning, Bailey and I went on a walk along the river.

It had rained all night.

But had finally stopped.

Cairns are very popular here.

Kate and Gypsy joined us for a walk on the forest road.

Hated to leave this beautiful area.

But driving was beautiful, too.
