One Year on the Road

The Steins&#039; new house in Brentwood.

We were able to park Bessie right out front.

The Steins were our next door neighbors in Eugene for 23 years.

We enjoyed them as neighbors so much.

Dick and I were biking buddies.

Their new place is a beautiful older home.

Familiar furnishings and decor, very different style home.

Rocker art, and their art nouveau mail slot.

They even have a pool!

Bailey had to stay outside, but she was so good.

They fed us well during our stay.

In the morning, I worked on the blog a bit.

Their neighborhood is the kind of place you can park a car like this on the street...

...and leave it overnight!

After breakfast, they took us on a walk in Santa Monica.

The street is lined with these incredible Moreton bay fig trees.

These amazing old trees are taking over the street.

Dick took some photos of us.

There are incredible houses on the street, as well.

I like the colors.

I&#039;ve never seen a chimney like this, and the slate tiles are beautiful.

This house was being completely stripped and remodeled.

A very expensive street to live on!

Next, we went to the Santa Monica promenade.

We walked along a park  on a cliff above the beach.

Carole was talking to her sister on the phone when they realized they were right next to each other.

We got to meet the sister and brother-in-law.

An interesting sculpture in the park.

It&#039;s actually made of wood.

We walked down close to the Santa Monica pier.

This health nut gives himself a jogging challenge.

It was hard to say goodbye to our old friends.

But Bessie called to us.

Driving through L.A. again was not fun.

We had bad traffic for hours.
