One Year on the Road

Sebastian Inlet campground is right on the inlet.

Sites with a water view are packed pretty close.

But we were happy with our more private site.

Right after arriving this stork flew over us with a snake.

In the morning, Bailey and I walked out to the pier.

We saw a few herons.

This small plane was zooming back and forth, so low.

It was scaring the birds to flight.

I figured the pilot was showing off.

But it was spraying pesticides (not over us, fortunately).

It was flying right over the campground and scaring Gypsy to death.

When the plane went away, we took Gypsy and Bailey for a walk.

This windboard terrified the cat.

She ran to Kate to be held.

So we went over to the quiet inlet side.

Here we watched pelicans fishing.

The bombshell dive.

Gypsy was enrapt.

More diving.

Gulp!

Taking off again.

There were osprey, too.

Lunch break at Bessie.

Kate and I went to the other side of the inlet.

There were lots of pelicans on the rocks under the bridge.

A ranger was getting a wad of fishing line out of the rocks.

Pelican tucked in for a nap.

They&#039;re so beautiful.

This is THE park for fishers.

Even the birds were fishing.

We walked to the beach.

I love these Florida black skimmers.

The always gather in crowds.

Fly together.

They look like cartoon birds to me.

And these guys look like balding old men.

The skimmers always face the sun as it lowers.

Lots of people fishing on the pier.

We walked out on it.

Bird on the railing.

Quite a scene at the end.

It was definitely a man&#039;s world out there.

A hawk at our campsite.

Beach grape tree leaves.

A stork on the restroom.

And on the grass.

Gypsy was stalked the storks.

She scared it away.

Kate&#039;s beach booty.

She loves shells and rocks.

I found this piece. I guess it&#039;s coral?

Gypsy wants out!

The last morning, I got up in the dark and went to the beach.

Beautiful sky.

Fishing poles were already lined up.

Pelicans fly into the sun.

As a west coaster, a beach sunrise is pretty special.

Up over the clouds at last.

These poor little bird was hopping on one leg.

Already the pier was filled with fishers.

A stork stands in the glowing sun.

The small pier.

Ready for another drive to the next place.
