One Year on the Road

Two women, their golden retriever, and an orphaned kitten hit the road in an RV for one year of "pretirement"

We camped in our daughter’s driveway for three nights and had great visits with both Tobi and Aly.

We picked Tobi up at work.

She is Communications Director for No More AIDS in Washington.

Her office is adjacent to this nice coffee shop.

We took Tobi and Ronan out to dinner.

A Tobi-Bailey Reunion.

Bailey whined and whined in happiness.

The next day we took the fur kids for a drive.

We went to a nearby park on Lake Washington.

It was a very cold grey day.

But we went for a long walk along the shore.

No swimming today.

It comes with a wood-burning stove.

I don't think the crow is waterfowl, but we didn't feed anyway.

It was a nice park walk.

Back in the car.

Cruising through the city.

We went by Both Ways Cafe.

Kate found this dog that reminded us of our pooch friend, Bella, back home.

My friend Sooze's brother Dick owns the cafe.

It's a nice cafe with a great breakfast and lunch menu.

We left the kids behind and went downtown.

Pike Place Market was a must.

It was starting to shut down at the end of the day.

Kate thinks to penny slot looks like a phone charger.

Pke Place Fish Company is famous.

Not just for its super fresh seafood.

And eye-catching displays.

But for its fish-throwing employees.

And the monk fish that moves to scare customers.

I didn't catch any fish-tossing photos but this guy offered to pose with one.

The flower market is also great.

And the fruit.

The old corner market across from Pike Place Market.

Cool! Food waste recycling on the spot.

We walked for a mile or two through the beautiful park.

It's very lush.

This is the bridge we almost drove Bessie under when we first got her.

Tobi has a children's book published as part of a series.

That night, we went back to Gay City for Trans Open Mike.

We got there early to get seats.

Tobi did some stand-up comedy.

A small venue, but packed.

There were lots of good performers.

Tobi's friend, Hollis, talked, too.

And so did Alethia (but she's camera shy).

A successful event.
