La Conner and San Juan Photos

We stayed at a campground near La Conner and on Memorial Day took a ferry into the San Juan Islands.

La Conner is a cute little town.

It's on Skagit Bay, north of Seattle.

Swinomish Channel goes right through the town.

It's a favorite for sailors.

The sun had come out and the town was hopping.

There was live music.

Dancing kids.

Fiddler crab.

Nasty Jack's is a fun antique store.

Mobile sign inside.

Nice shops in historic buildings.

Sculpture in a park.

We drove outside of town.

Mountain backdrop.

We bought a fresh crab at a farm market.

We didn't make it to Stanwood but liked the sign.

Not much of a site at the campground.

But the beach was just a short walk.

Nice lodge buildings and game lawn.

We watched an osprey fishing in an inlet.

It made Gypsy nervous.

When the osprey hovered, Gypsy freaked out.

Those talons and wings could have easily carried her away.

She hid under Kate's jacket.

The next day, we drove to Anacortes and took the ferry to the San Juan Islands.

It was a beautiful day.

It was Memorial Day.

So there were lots of people out on the water.

We stopped at Lopez Island

And at Shaw Island.

We got off on Orcas Island.

There were hundreds lined up for the ferry back to Anacortes.

It was a packed boat.

We took another very empty boat on the Friday Harbor on San Juan Island.

So beautiful.

Too bad we'll miss this.

The last morning, Bailey and I took an early walk to the beach.
