One Year on the Road

First stop: the Southernmost Point in the U.S.A.

We walked through the prestigious Truman neighborhood.

Palm-lined streets.

This was where President Truman stayed periodically during his presidency.

I check out the lady&#039;s grocery bag.

It grows &quot;walking roots.&quot;

We had a great lunch at Dragonfly.

Their key lime cake is famous!

So many wonderful old homes.

Not all the houses in Key West are fixed up.

Some are in the midst of rennovation.

Love this little restaurant.

Great table art.

So many great colors.

Art that rolls...

Another very interesting vehicle.

The Green Parrot is a famous historic bar.

We swam in the ocean at Zach Taylor State Park.

1203 miles to NYC.

Roosting rooster.

Banyan trees are so amazing.

A fire juggler in Mallory Square.

Birds in a wind-blown puddle.

We waited for the Cat Man show.

He&#039;s been performing with his trained cats for 40 years.

He acts really crazy.

But it&#039;s all an act.

He has four cats that he&#039;s trained.

They walk across a pole.

But really, they seem to do what they want.

They don&#039;t seem to mind it much.

But they don&#039;t look exceptionally thrilled.

They rebel sometimes.

And they talk back.

Sometimes they jump through burning hoops.

But not today. Oh, well.

We watched the sunset from the square.

Till it was gone.

A different day we rode bikes in town.

We rode out to another dock.

Pretty empty on this chilly day.

Sea so green; sky so blue.

Pretty catch.

I watched a fisherman catch a small shark.

It was less than three feet long.

Still, I wouldn&#039;t want to have to get the hook out of its mouth.

But they did, and then released it.

Africans rescued from an illegal slave ship were buried near here.

Those who survived were returned to Africa.

This old fort was built on the African cemetery.

Now it&#039;s a garden center.

Blue Heaven was a highly recommended outdoor restaurant.

But we didn&#039;t stay for dinner.

We went instead to this Israeli place.

Great falafels.

And a very nice Israeli owner.

Another night we came in to see this show.

At the very small Waterfront Theater.
