We spent three nights with our goddaughter Aly in the Guadalupe River State Park, between San Antonio and Gruene, Texas.

Bailey was so excited to see Aly again.

She went kind of wild.

Such a happy reunion.

At their post for dropped crumbs.

Down on the river beach.

A bit cool for swimming that day, but Aly went wading.

She finds a tiny island.

We had the beach all to ourselves.

Gypsy was curious but cautious about the river.

So pretty.

Kate and Aly looked for pretty rocks.

Kate could rock hunt for hours.

So green this time of year.

Aly gets a rare visit from Gypsy.

Now Gypsy usurps Kate's hat.

Exhausted from a big day, Gypsy crawls into her carrier.

After dinner, another walk through the campground.

Aly and Kate were very excited to find air plants.

Strolling back to our site.

How wonderful!

So many turtles all down the river.

Poor Bailey had to stay home.

A little quiet time.

The next day, we drove to Gruene.

This historic building is a great antique shop.

Aly found herself a cowboy hat.

Cowboy boots for an athlete.

The old general store.

The original soda fountain.

Cracks in the floor are covered with license plates.

Kate finds herself an armadillo.

Gruene Hall is one of the oldest dance halls in Texas.

It was built in 1878 for cotton farmers.

We caught some live music.

The old stage.

Old ads above the stage.

More license plate patches.

We went to the Gristmill for lunch.

We got an outside table overlooking the river.

With some hungry cats below.
