One Year on the Road

Two women, their golden retriever, and an orphaned kitten hit the road in an RV for one year of "pretirement"

We spent five night in the Colorado River RV Resort, and went to Round Top and Warrenton to browse antiques.

This is a campground!

We got this spacious site.

With no one next to us.

It was on the Colorado River.

Free range cows.

A blue bird pair.

Wide open spaces.

Wtih plent of walking trails.

We took the kids on long walks every day.

Bailey was in heaven.

Green grass to roll in and sticks to chew.

"No fiar. Bailey's off leash."

Gypsy prefers Bailey to be close by.

Such bright colors!

We just hung out in the sun and relaxed.

Lots of cardinals there.

Time to go home.

All this space to ourselves.

Kate took us off road into waist high grass.

Our new cat pouch for when Gypsy gets tired.

She's not sure whether she likes it.

One day we drove to Fayetteville.

It's a cute little country town.

A couple of antique stores.

Lots of old houses.

On the tracks.

Kate found a fixer upper.

With a cool barn in back.

Kate bought this antique quilt for $40!

I think my brother had this chemistry set.

Original troll dolls?

We had lunch at Orsak's.

My sister and I had taken our mom here once.

Burned cherry cake came free with every meal.

The buttermilk pie was better.

We drove up to Round Top. (They still say "colored" here??)

Round Top is famous for it's springtime antique market.

Full of repurposed junk, such as a truck table.

Hitching post lamps.

Tractor seat stools.

Tables from old wood.

Old metal chairs.

Train lantern.

Tractor grill table.

What a greenhouse for sale!

Fancy bird house.

Clutter is prized here.

But the real flea market antiques were down the road in Warrenton.

Acres and acres of goods.

All kinds of interesting items.

Sometimes your basic antiques.

But a lot of large items.

Like gas signs and cattle butchering pots.

A strange mix.

Fun for grandkids?

Who wouldn't want their own pink dental chair?

Or carousel lights?

Gas pumps and signs.

Such a happy addition to your family room decor.

Surely someone could find a good use for these sideshow signs.

I can think of a few places for this.

But no room in Bessie.

Are these duck trash cans or what??

Kate takes a moment to rest.

Wagon wheels.

That's some chandelier!

This guy loves his job!

A perfect place to g when rennovating an old house.

Our trying to remodel a new house to look old.

The full moon rises over our sweet spot.

Through the trees.

Another day we drove to nearby Columbus.

The county courthouse.

Old water tower.

A pair of finches.

We took a driving audio tour of a few old houses in town.

Cabin from one of the early settlers.

Beautiful live oak.

Just outside the campground, we visited cow neighbors.

Baby big horns.

Wonder if he gets neck aches?

They were all so attentive.

Mama and baby, so sweet!

These seemed like happy cows.

They made me want to never eat beef again.
