While staying in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, we returned to Intercourse to visit the Amish countryside.

Intercourse is the heart of Amish country in Pennsylvania.

You see buggies everywhere.

And working horses.

This young man worked a team of six in a field.

On my bike ride, I stopped at this hardware store.

It has all sorts of things. I got a birch beer.

Giant cabbages for a buck.

I rode by many one-room schoolhouses.

Kids at recess.

Such beauty!

These dairy cows look relaxed and content.

Farmers returning from the field are greeted by pups.

Harvesting pumpkins.

Clothes on the line.

A quilt barn.

Pulling a mower to cut corn stalks.

Another farmer.

At Costco, Kate and I were suprised to find special buggy parking.

There were lots of Amish people in the store, buying supplies.

We stopped at a quilt store.

Lots of quilts and supplies for sale.

Hats, too.

I like the look, but not so much on me.

Quilts galore.

These horses have nerves of steel.

The cutest little blonde boy was in the buggy.

Bugyy behind us.

And buggies (and old woman on scooter) in front of us.

More laundry.

We drove around country roads.

I snapped photos through the windows while Kate drove.

So many buggies out on a nice fall day.

We stopped for an Amish lunch and got a special note from our sweet young server.

So many Amish farms.

You can tell from the laundry.

Or the work horses.

So many boys working in fields.

Amish pick-up.

School was getting out.

That's a pony pulling a lawn mower in the street.

They carry more food than books to school.

And most all of them wear reflective vests to walk on the road.

More kids.

Great house in nearby Strasburg.

Beautiful turret.

Painted pumpkin.

The Amish ride scooters, never bikes.

We stopped to check out the Red Caboose Motel.

All the rooms are in train cars.

The rooms were not very invited.

But a message for customers.

Another buggy.

Another pick-up truck.

Mom and son, scootering together.

We stopped to see all these piglets in a field.

There must have been 20 of them.

And they were all so cute.

A little Wilbur.

One last quilt shop stop.
